The second house
A plantation bungalow on Hantana Estate.
The Chairman’s Bungalow stands on Hantana Estate, the working tea plantation where Stage 1 of the Pekoe Trail begins, at the Ceylon Tea Museum. It is a colonial-era residence on a considerably greater scale than the bungalow in Galaha, and carries the history of an estate that has been growing tea for more than a century.
We are restoring it with the same care taken at Galaha: keeping its proportions, its materials and its character, and attending to the original fabric of a house that has stood through Ceylon tea’s history.
It will open in 2027 as an exclusive whole-house stay, the second house in the Old Ceylon Heritage Collection. Those on the waitlist will hear first, and receive first access and preview rates.
